I am all over Margherita Missoni. Well, not literally, but she has arisen from a sea of other faces to be my Summer Style Icon. She is such the bohemian and I love it. It's a combo of her free flowin' locks, her amazing style and her sultry Italian accent. She never seems too made up and her summer shoe choice is bare feet. Flowy loose knits and many a bangle up her arm, she seems like the ultimate in a chilled out summer look. This summer I want less. Less products, less stress and less clothing. This look embodies that feeling and also indulges my bohemian leanings. Perfect combo. Buono Giorno!

So, I was toodling around Holt's the other day and I came across the most beautiful scarves by LemLem. They were so simple and unique looking. Perfect for the breezy days of summer, methinks. Turns out, LemLem was created by Supermodel-turned-designer Liya Kebede. It was born out of a trip to her native Ethiopia. Lemlem, meaning "to bloom or flourish" in Amharic, uses traditional artisans to produce beautiful hand-woven scarves. Awesome.

Of all the lip trends our there right now, I gotta say that a perfectly beige nude lip tops my list. Meet MAC's To Pamper lipstick. Launching in the autumn, it's a nude taupe and extremely creamy in texture. Basically, I want my pucker to look like a mannequin. Why? Maybe I watched too many episodes of Today's Special when I was a kid? Anyways, I can't wait for this lipstick.

To tide me over until then, I have MAC's other two little gems: Cyber, which is an almost black shade of purple and Lady Danger, the most perrrfect red/orange.

I can't really explain what it is exactly about Jenny Lewis that makes me love her so. The last Rodarte show featured a lot of focus on makeup (body and otherwise) and hair. The most wearable trend is definitely the two toned lip. I went to MAC the other day and let them play with me. In the West, a bath is a place one goes to cleanse the body. In Asia, one goes there to cleanse the soul. Bathing is calming and meditative. Most Korean families spend Sunday together at the sauna, relaxing and getting clean. I love a good soak, but I haven't had a tub in a long time. The Japanese make it a daily ritual to clean themselves before bed. They slip into warm tub for a good sleep-inducing soak before getting into a clean bed, themselves all nice and clean. This is something I think we could all use. Sweet dreams!

I love eating/drinking out of good design. The unusual or beautiful adds to my taste experience. The best cup of tea is always out of my Grandmother's hand painted, teeny tiny china cups. "It just tastes better", I'd tell my mother as a child. She was annoyed that she couldn't put it in the dishwasher. "Just drink out of a normal cup for Godsakes". Instead I continued to annoy her with my "being particular" about what I consumed out of or on. To me, eating and drinking are as much about visuals as they are about tastes. That being said, if someone talks about corpses while I'm eating, it ruins it for me. I'm not "sensitive", I just visualize well and I'd like to be 100% in the experience, not trying to block out gross imagery.

I'd eat and drink off these anyday.

She designs out of Montreal and sells from her boutique called HeadQuarters Galerie and Boutique as well as on Etsy . Pardon Moi for the freak out here, but she is soooo on point with her designs. She is tapping into the blogosphere with her connection to Kingdom of Style and has incorporated the bondage/compression into her collection. And I am in love. Swoon. Wallpaper has fascinated me, ever since I spent long hours in one of the neighbors basements playing with my friend Annie. Her parents had their entire basement wallpapered in a black and white pattern of turn of the century British cartoonish characters on small trikes and drinking pints etc. Very odd, but I could spend a long time studying these characters. I think that the power of wallpaper is in the joy of having the time in your home to figure it all out. Time to take in the intricate designs and appreciate all the fine detail. One day, I will have a closet or small bathroom in Toile De Jouy. So I can watch the pastoral French people milk cows when I tinkle.

It was an evening of well dressed men. The signing took place in the Barney's Men's department and there were so many men in loafers, well tailored pieces and comfy grandpa sweaters. Basically, it was the Sartorialist in real life. Those photographs had been animated and were walking and speaking Italian in front of me. Scott's two favorite subjects actually flew in from Italy.

Things I found out while I was there:

1) Scott Schuman is actually only 5 foot 2.

2) Garance Dore was involved with the production of the book and was there signing books as well

3) You can have socks made from leather

Brian Reyes NYC fashion week

I went to see Brian Reyes yesterday. The show was alright, nothing blew me away. Actually, the fact that I sat across from Carine Freakin Rotfield blew me away. She opened her WWD and started reading it before the show was over. Thats a bad sign for Mr. Reyes. She was, of course, so very La Rotfield. Cest ca. I also saw a bunch of B list celebs and botoxed out celebutants. Rachel Bilson is seriously tiny in real life. Like a strong breeze could take her down. I bumped into Kate Lampear at the end of the show, literally. It was a very surreal day. I scored a bag full of hair products, sharpies and other goodies. I also had my hair styled for free at the Tresemme booth. I better not get used to all this pampering.

Fashion's Night Out Throwdown

It was big. There were less freebies and more models than I thought. I got a free mini manicure at Chanel, drank lots of free champagne and ate chocolate truffles and french macaroons. Not bad. I missed Gwen Stefani by 5 minutes and decided that the Intermix rsvp line was too long for watching Sienna paint a mannequin. It was great, but I wish I could have had a transporter to beam me around the city. I love this city!

I attended the opening for Selima's Hat Boutique at Bendels. Here are some of the pictures I took. The hats were whimsical, the ladies were French and the champagne was free. So, it was a good time. On a Bendels note, the top floors were all closed off, which means that they are serious about moving away from fashion and focusing on beauty and accessories. I can't wait to see what they have in store (wink) for the space.
